Puzzle of The Day

Puzzle -1

Of the six men of literature A, B, C, D, E and F being considered here, two belonged to the 17th century, three to the 19th and one to the 20th century. Four were recognised as great poets, three as great novelists and three as great dramatists. One contributed to Bengali literature, two to Hindi, two to Marathi and one to Tamil. The 20th century writer wrote poetry only and contributed to Marathi literature and the other Marathi writer contributed to poetry, novel and drama. One Hindi writer and the only Tamil writer belonged to the 19th century. The former contributed to poetry and novel while the latter to novel and drama. The Bengali writer belonged to the 17th century and contributed to poetry only. A belonged to the 20th century, B wrote drama only, C contributed to Marathi literature, D was a Hindi poet and novelist and belonged to the 19th century, E also belonged to the 19th century, and F contributed to poetry only.

Puzzle -2

Twelve musicians meet at a music festival. They sit in two rows facing each other, such that every musician in row – 1 faces another musician in row 2.

Avinash, Bhaskar, Chinmay, Daksh, Eshwar and Fanish sit in row 1, facing South and they play the following musical instruments – flute, violin, tabla, sitar, guitar and harmonium, not necessarily in this particular order.

Girish, Himesh, Indra, Jayesh, Kamalesh and Lalit sit in row – 2, facing North and they play the following musical instruments- veena, dholak, tanpura, sarod, sarangi and cello, not necessarily in this particular order.

Avinash, the violin player faces Himesh, the veena artist at the extreme left end of Himesh’s row. The guitar artist, Chinmay sits third to the right of Daksh, who faces Kamalesh. There are exactly three people between Jayesh, the sarod player and the one playng the cello.The sarangi player, Girish and Lalit are not immediate neighbours. Indra faces the tabla artist, Bhaskar. Eshwar does not play the harmonium and he faces the one who plays the tanpura. The flute artist does not face Lalit or Jayesh.
