Descriptive For Syndicate Bank PGDBF

Cryptocurrency Advantages & Disadvantages (Future Scope)

Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that can be used as an alternative to physical currency. However it is not under the regulation of the governments or issued by the central banks. It is highly unstable as compared to regular physical currencies but nowadays many people are using it for different purposes like shopping online or money  transactions. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency uses encrypted cryptographic technology for security and runs on blockchain technology. It is difficult to counterfeit (copy) because of this security feature. It is created and stored electronically  which we can save only on our computers or websites.Today there are various functioning websites which allow you to convert cryptocurrency to real money and transfer it directly to your bank account or vice versa. Some cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin (2009), Litecoin (2011), Ripple  (2013), Laxmi Coin (India 2014) etc.Jio coin will be launched soon in India. Japan gave legal tender status to bitcoin. Perto is another  cryptocurrency proposed to be adopted by Venezuela. But our finance minister Arun Jaitley said India does not recognize virtual currency as legal tender. Dinesh Sharma committee is setup to look into issues relating to cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency is readily available to the general public. Almost anyone can make use of it. No need to share your identity or the details of the  transactions made between you and the beneficiary. No information is required to share with the government and the bank regarding the deal. It is truly decentralized. All your transactions are safe and It is next to impossible for any person other than the owner of the wallet to make any  payment from the wallet, unless they are hacked. You are the master of  your money. You can keep it in your wallet and use it as per your  wishes. There is no third party involved like a bank on whom you need to trust. When you talk about transactions using cryptocurrencies then there are no limits. You may be in a different part of the world and the   receiver might be some other part, you can still transfer the amount. The inter-country transaction is extremely easy with cryptocurrency because its function is not under the control of any central bank. Banks and  Payment Processing companies charge fees to conduct payment and  fund transfer but with crypto currencies, these fees can be eliminated  and are very low.

Payments done are irreversible & There’s no center point in payment  processing so if you transfer someone by mistake and want to get a Refund for services. There’s no option to dispute that  person only way to get your money back is to ask the person to refund payment and if he  refused then forget about it. They are Not Widely Accepted. There are  not many companies or websites who accept it, if you have  cryptocurrencies and wanted to purchase something then you have to  search first that which service provider accept it even if you don’t like  their services and have only cryptocurrencies then you have to use it  even if you don’t like that provider also in physical stores you have to use real money instead of digital money. If you have stored your digital currencies in your system or mobile and if you lose it then there’s no way to get your money back you can’t complain to police or even some other person. People are not aware of how to use cryptocurrency and  hence open themselves to hacker. The technology is somewhat complex  and therefore one needs to be mindful of it before investing. Since cryptocurrencies are so new, they are also very volatile. This is one of the main reasons mass adoption is taking longer than it should.

Cryptocurrency is not widely accepted which is a major drawback but slowly and steadily it is making its position. Both developed as well as developing countries are legalizing and regulating the use of  cryptocurrency.

Cloze Test for SBI Clerk

“If you have no proof of identity, you cannot get Aadhaar in the first place,”says senior advocate Kapil Sibal. Aadhaar may be seen by the government as an enabler for every Indian who does not possess(1) even a single proof of identity, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud  observed on Tuesday. “You may be wrong to pursue(2) that every Indian has one or the other proof of identity. Suppose the government was to assert that there is a large segment of society, like migrant labourers, who have doubtedly(3) no proof of identity… If that is so, then the Aadhaar policy of the government is an enabler,” Justice Chandrachud, who is part of the five-judge Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, said. “Aadhaar derives(4) people with no proof of identity an opportunity to be enabled with an identity to accept(5) their entitlements,” he stated. To this, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, for petitioners, said “if you have no proof of identity, you cannot get Aadhaar in the first place. Let us get this clear. The content(6) of the Aadhaar Act is not to give anyone the benefit of an identity. The Act is a mechanism to authenticate identities. And even then, why should the
authentication of identity be linked to biometrics?”. At one point, Justice A.K. Sikri tried to reason that biometrics was sought because the government viewed Aadhaar as a disease(7) for the problem of fake identities.“The government’s rationale seems to be that with other identity documents open to original(8), let us have at least one identity with biometrics,” Justice Sikri told Mr. Sibal. “If a person has a fake or duplicate ID like a passport or voter’s card, he should be dealt with separately under the law. Laws are broken and offences are  committed in all civilised societies, that does not mean that those of us who do not want to breach the law are subject(9) to the same restrictive conditions,” Mr. Sibal responded. The arguments were led on how the government has made Aadhaar the only proof of identity, to the negation of all others like ration cards to passports to voter ID card, to avail of benefits, welfare, subsidies and services. “So, ultimately you are saying that the violation in Aadhaar is an absence of choice. That is, Aadhaar takes away the right of a citizen to establish his identity by any mode,” Justice Chandrachud addressed Mr. Sibal. Mr. Sibal agreed, saying Aadhaar underscores an entity(10) to make “the State our master and we its underlings”.

Directions(Q. 11-20)Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given below it. Some words are highlighted for your attention.

Patience is hardly an attribute that is associated with the Indian psyche, particularly of the male variety. Instances of road rage at the slightest pretext leading even to death are far too common. A flock is way more common a formation than a queue. Even if a queue is to be formed, violators run amok in total disregard of the conscientious and often the geriatric in the waiting. The urban phenomenon of delirious honking is another manifestation of patience running thin. The recent past, however, has thrown up a remarkable exception, namely, the general attitude in demonetised India. As we near the two-month mark, a consensus seems to be emerging among economists, from both sides of the ideological spectrum, that demonetisation will lead to significantly lower real GDP growth in the transition phase than expected but will have no effect in the long run. Estimates from academics and financial analysts suggest that demonetisation may lead to a decrease in annual real GDP growth of anything between 1 and 2 percentage points than expected.

One of the many crucial assumptions of course is that the national accounting norm remains the same. Irrespective of what the exact number is, evidence suggests that demonetisation has left behind a trail of economic consequences in terms of job loss and diminished economic activity, particularly in the informal sector, and will continue to do so in the near future. Besides the pure economic cost, the psychological cost of having to wait in serpentine queues for a couple of thousand rupees is enormous. And queuing up may not yield rewards anyway as ATMs continue to run dry, especially in the semi-urban and rural areas. Initial reports suggested that the queues in the second month have been significantly shorter than those in the first. Now it seems the shorter queues have a different explanation — people have a fair sense of how long cash will last, if at all, and rational that they are, do not wait if they think their turn will not come. All this for their own money, and this makes demonetisation even more exasperating and psychologically costly.

11). What was discussed by the author from the above passage ?

1. Issues faced  due to insufficient cash supply towards urban areas.
