Nobel Prize 2017 Winners List : Quick Look

Nobel Prizes : Introduction

Nobel Prizes are the most prestigious intellectual awards in the world. These awards were established in the year 1901 by a Swedish chemist named Alfred Nobel. He was the creator of Dynamite. He thought the Dynamite would end all wars but it proved to be the deadliest product and people started calling him "The Merchant of Death".

He felt very bad for that and created a will on 27th November 1895, giving the largest share of his fortune to a series of prizes and established the now famous Nobel Prizes. On the fifth anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death, December 10, 1901, the first set of Nobel Prizes were awarded. Initially the prizes were given for the areas Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. Later in the year 1968, the Sveriges Riksbank (Sweden's central bank) established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
